Pinnaroo Cemetery and Crematorium

I have not visited Pinaroo for a little while and was pleased to read Si Vi’s recent review with photos. I had placed a Plaque in the Remembrance Garden for the Missing and when I visited last year, the pond and surrounds were disgusting - covered almost entirely by excrement from the local ducks who frequent the lake and pond. It was obvious it had not been cleaned for some time. No where pleasant to sit and remember. It seems from the recent photo it is maintained a lot better? I have a lot of relatives at rest in Pinaroo and we do pay a lot of money to the BCC to facilitate and maintain to a level of decency. I will be visiting shortly and hopefully see a vast improvement around the tear drop pond monument. Surely a quick hose or sweep each morning can keep this peaceful area clean and free of unhealthy odors. If not, I will contact the Cemetery Sexton and BCC to have this mess regularly cleaned. Friday 21.11.2025 I visited The Pinaroo Lawn Cemetary this morning, in particular The Garden for Rememberance for the Missing. I was very pleased to see the difference in cleanliness around the brick seating and pond area. Very little Duck droppings and plenty of space to sit quietly in reflection. Thank you for cleaning this area or was it just the recent heavy rains? A bit sad to see no one has really taken up the use of this area but I suppose family and friends left behind manage this in their own way. Thank you, Linda O’Connor

I recently visited my parents in section 14 of the lawn plots. It was so disheartening to see The lawns splattered with shredded artificial flowers. I noticed flowers I had left on my last visit weren't there; maybe they were also scattered across the graves. A little statue that my grandchildren picked out for them was missing. Please do better respecting the care of our loved ones.

My opinion of Pinnaroo's offerings is also negative. The sites were often depressingly unkempt (who needs that for your loved one) or, in many cases, they were just leftover crumbs with the best sites taken by others. My guide made it clear that this is totally the fault of BCC which will not extend the existing sites. They really should be ashamed. Pinnaroo is not for 'this little black duck'. I'm taking my precious one to Mt Thompson, which is more expensive but (for me) a beautiful place and well worth the extra!

Interesting place to go. It's a small cemetery here, but it's inside Queensland Garden of Remembrance, it's two cemeteries in one. Cemeteries are not just for the morbid, an old burial ground can be a mine of historic information a haven of tranquillity in the midst of a busy city.

Pinnaroo Cemetery & Crematorium is located at 285 Graham Rd, Bridgeman Downs QLD 4035. We often come here to attend to my wife's parents' graveside, which is located at Lot 19 at the Pinnaroo Cemetery. Today, we were appalled to see many of the areas at this normally well presented location at Bridgeman Downs to be in a terrible state. Many of the lots are overgrown & badly in need of mowing & a general clean up of the surrounding areas. I did speak to one of the Brisbane City Council staff about the conditions of the Cemetery & was politely advised to approach the management of the Pinnaroo Cemetery. I was able to speak to Matt, the manager & expressed my concerns about the general state of the grounds. I was told that within the next week that the contractor staff responsible for the mowing of the lawns would have this work done. I would imagine that this being the resting place to our loved ones, that priority would be given to keep the grounds in immaculate condition. I look forward to seeing the Pinnaroo Cemetery & Crematorium grounds back to the normal standard on how the should be presented on our next visit 😀

This is a lovely place for quiet reflection. I was moved when I visited. Some areas were better kept than others. The Queensland Garden of Remembrance was especially beautiful, as well as the Missing Persons Memorial.

I strongly agree with Rico , my husband and I visit his mother's plot regularly in the Rose Garden. We have complained several times as it as well is uncared for and totally disgusting ( the roses are dead as a doornail). We visited last week the roses are still dead and the garden overgrown with other plants and weeds. The excuse the manager gave us last time was that he had just taken over and he would look into it. He also used the excuse that the ashes kill the roses.Sadly this was a year ago and nothing has changed. If Albany Creek gardens can keep their Rose gardens looking beautiful so should Pinnaroo. You pay good money to have these plots but they are not cared for.
